Talk about a meal with a view.
In an Australian first, you will soon be able to have breakfast aboard a hot air balloon in the skies over Canberra.
Balloon Aloft Canberra is launching the experience later this year, serving breakfast as you gently float over Canberra on a purpose-built table in the middle of the balloon basket.
"We have been talking about how we innovate the hot air balloon experience for some time now," said Balloon Aloft Canberra director John Sanby.
"We have had our fair share of wedding proposals and special announcements, but short of bungee jumping out of a balloon, we thought there wasn't much left to do. So after a few months working on ideas we came up with an experience dining in a restaurant at 1,200 feet."
Breakfast will be provided by Pialligo Estate, with two courses of smoked meats, fresh pastries, chia pots and freshly squeezed juice, and they may look into a liquor license down the track.
Pialligo Estate's general manager Charlie Costelloe joked that despite the gas burners, "we still haven't worked out how to cook eggs in the balloon yet".
They are yet set the price for the dining experience, which will be available for two or four people.
The breakfast in a balloon experience is being launched as part of the Canberra Balloon Spectacular, which is on again from March 10-18 and also forms part of the 2018 Enlighten Festival.
Spectators can watch the balloons inflate and rise daily from the lawns of Old Parliament House, weather dependant, with food trucks on hand with coffee and breakfast.
This festival there are more than 30 hot air balloons, including a special 'Kermie' the frog balloon and a giant, colourful Hummingbird.
While there was much disappointment last year when bad weather kept the balloons mostly grounded, Mr Sanby said the event's opening weekend is looking good.
"Particularly this Saturday, Sunday and Monday, it looks like the weather's going to be great," he said.
And those who find 'balloon o'clock' a little early might be more keen on this year's new Enlighten Balloon Glow on Friday March 9.
Balloon pilots will coordinate from 8pm for a 45 minute choreographed performance using their balloon burners, set to a soundtrack and with roving fire twirlers, on the Old Parliament House lawns.
The Canberra Balloon Spectacular is on March 10-18, from 6.15am daily. Balloon flights are weather dependant - listen to local radio updates or facebook.com/EnlightenAU/ to find out if the balloons will go up each day.
